Delivery & Incoterms

FOB from East Africa, or CIF to your port

Copper cathode cargo can be quoted FOB at load port, or CIF to a destination port in China, India, or Europe — depending on how your business handles freight and insurance.

FOB or CIF

Two ways to take delivery

FOB — Free On Board

Chezmuna delivers the cargo to the ship at load port — Dar es Salaam or Mombasa — with SGS inspection completed beforehand. The buyer arranges and pays for ocean freight and marine insurance from that point on. Preferred by buyers who already run their own freight-forwarding relationships and want control over the shipping line and schedule.

CIF — Cost, Insurance & Freight

Freight and insurance to a named destination port are arranged and included in the quoted price. Preferred by buyers who want one landed cost to plan against rather than coordinating freight separately, or who don't have an established forwarder on the East Africa–to–destination lane.

Before You Choose

What actually decides FOB vs CIF for you

Existing freight relationships

If you already move cargo on this lane, FOB usually gives you a better freight rate than a third-party CIF quote.

Budgeting certainty

CIF gives one landed number to plan against, which some procurement teams prefer for internal approval.

First transaction vs repeat buyer

Buyers doing a first trial cargo often start CIF, then move to FOB once their own forwarder relationship on the route is established.
